International Feature Film

One of the festival’s main roles is to offer up a space in which to showcase those films that, due to their critical and political nature, find it difficult to be screened in commercial movie theatres. By supporting these narratives and their creators we seek to balance the scales in an audiovisual landscape that tends towards the consumption of cinema made by and for streaming platforms.

Afroindígenas Debut Feature

Afroindígenas Debut Feature aims to strengthen its engagement with the most diverse Latin American and African cinemas, taking into consideration the distinct regions, themes, and challenges they encompass. Through the Afroindígenas Debut Feature Section, the festival highlights first or second features by emerging filmmakers, fostering the representation of inclusive and diverse narratives, with a particular emphasis on films produced in Indigenous languages and minority dialects.

Canarian Perspective

The growing international stature of documentaries made in the Canary Islands has prompted us to create a special section dedicated to the non-fiction cinema produced by our community. In recent years, Canarian filmmakers have managed to establish themselves as key figures in the cinematic landscape and have moved beyond the islands’ borders with a creativity and narrative mastery that have garnered attention both locally and nationally. Canarian cinematic storytelling, rich in identity and depth, has won over audiences and juries at some of the world’s best documentary film festivals.
