Sinopsis

A través de material de archivo inédito y largamente olvidado, éste documental descubre la maquinaria oculta de la dictadura de Alfredo Stroessner (1912-2006) en Paraguay, uno de los regímenes más largos de la historia. Desde la propaganda hasta las emisiones internacionales, la película expone cómo los medios moldearon el poder, controlaron la memoria y construyeron un legado que aún perdura hoy en día.

Through rare and long-forgotten footage, this documentary uncovers the hidden machinery of Alfredo Stroessner’s dictatorship in Paraguay—one of history’s longest-running regimes. From propaganda to international broadcasts, the film exposes how media shaped power, controlled memory, and built a legacy that still lingers today.

JUANJO PEREIRA es cineasta, investigador y productor cuyo trabajo destaca la investigación interdisciplinaria a través de la creación de ensayos cinematográficos e instalaciones de vídeo. Se dedica a investigar el archivo cinematográfico paraguayo, y sus proyectos también utilizan la deriva para examinar las infraestructuras modernas y los paisajes cotidianos construidos. Es director artístico y cofundador del Festival Internacional de Cine Contemporáneo de Asunción. Ha participado y ganado premios en festivales y mercados como: Hot Docs Forum, IDFA Bertha Fund, ARCHÉ, entre otros.

JUANJO PEREIRA is a filmmaker, researcher and producer whose work highlights interdisciplinary research through the creation of essay films and video installations. He is dedicated to researching the Paraguayan film archive, and his projects also use the dérive to examine modern infrastructures and everyday built landscapes. He serves as the artistic director and co-founder of the Asunción International Contemporary Film Festival. He has participated and won awards at festivals and markets such as: Hot Docs Forum, IDFA Bertha Fund, ARCHÉ, among others.
